About the Book

Fishing in the Rain was inspired by a very memorable visit by our oldest son, Caleb and grandson Jake.  My husband, Jim had planned to take Caleb and Jake on a charter fishing trip.  But we woke to blustery weather.  It was raining cats and dogs and very windy.  The captain called Jim to cancel due to inclement weather.

Jake was devastated, but did not sit around long.  Instead, Jake convinced Daddy Jim to still go fishing on the dock because the Fish are Already Wet!  They had a marvelous time catching 13 fish!  What a day!

Sharing this story with others, I received such positive responses that I decided to write a children’s book.  Fishing in the Rain!

Meet The Team

Pam Porter

Author

Fishing in the Rain is my first book!  A true story of my grandson who inspired us to have fun in the rain.  I told the story of “The Fish are already Wet” to friends on the Port Royal Sound Foundation Board of Directors. I received many laughs and felt that many related to this charming tale.

Tamara Isaak-Harrington the illustrator, and David Robinson the web designer have both done a fantastic job! It has been a pleasure to work with these two young professionals.

I will always remember the way Jake’s face lit up as I read the book to him for the first time!  I hope you enjoy as well.  I had so much fun on this book, I’m fishing for the next story!

Tamara Isaak- Harrington

Illustrator

Hi everybody, my name is Tamara Isaak-Harrington. Fishing in the Rain is my first children’s book! I am a recent graduate from Savannah College of Art & Design. My degree is in Graphic Design with a double minor in Painting and Language Culture & the Arts.  As a visual communicator, I explore creative solutions to fuel one’s imagination through multidisciplinary media including various forms of design, illustration, and paint.

My friend and colleague, Cynthia Knott introduced me to Pam.  Cynthia is an en plein air artist from New York, now in Savannah.  I work with Cynthia in Savannah. As a client of Cynthia, Pam reached out about illustrators who might be interested in creating a children’s book. Thus began a thrilling journey!  I was instantly honored and excited to be working for Fishing in the Rain!

I am very grateful for this amazing opportunity Pam and Jim have provided. I have learned so much during this process, from illustrating to book layout. I never thought I’d have so much fun working as an illustrator for a children’s book. Not only did I have the opportunity to meet Pam, but also the two stars of the book, Jake the grandson and Jim the grandfather. I look forward to the next creative project!

David Robinson

Web Developer

Hello! My name is David Robinson. I am a recent graduate from Clemson University. My degree is in Forest Resource Management. Last spring Pam was looking for a young professional to help with a project.  One of my professors suggested I would be a good fit.

I have really enjoyed working with Pam and Tamara to bring this project to life. In the process I have developed a wonderful professional relationship with Pam and her husband Jim. They have both been wonderful professional mentors for me as I graduate and embark on my career!

I would like to thank Pam for this tremendous opportunity for me to grow and establish myself as a professional. I look forward to the next project!
